1. About Accessible Trades
Accessible Trades is operated by Matthew Moran, a sole trader trading as Accessible Trades. In these terms, “Accessible Trades”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that sole trader.
Accessible Trades is a company discovery and research service. It is designed to help people find businesses that may provide construction, repair or accessible home-adaptation services.
The service brings together public company information, registered trade classifications and, where available, supporting evidence from other public sources.
2. Accepting these terms
By using Accessible Trades, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
These terms apply only to your use of Accessible Trades. Any enquiry, quotation, appointment, payment or agreement for work is strictly between you and the relevant company. Accessible Trades is not a party to that relationship and does not act as an agent for either side.
3. What the service provides
Accessible Trades allows you to:
- search for companies using a location and type of work;
- review public company details and registered business activities;
- view supporting council, procurement, grant or other evidence where it has been added to a company record;
- compare companies using the information available through the platform; and
- open external public records and search services for further research.
The service is intended to support your own research. It does not replace the checks that should be completed before appointing a company.
4. Search results and supporting evidence
Search results are generated from the information available to the service at the time of the search. Results may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate or no longer current.
A company may appear because its registered location, company name or SIC classification matches the selected search criteria. A match does not confirm that the company currently offers the exact service required.
Supporting evidence may include information from councils, procurement documents, Disabled Facilities Grant-related material, home improvement agencies, company websites or other public records.
Evidence labels such as verified, possible or historic describe our assessment of a stored public source and, where applicable, its stated period of relevance. They do not mean that we have vetted the company itself.
We do not inspect workmanship or premises, interview customers, check criminal records, confirm public-liability insurance, validate professional qualifications or monitor a company’s continuing competence. Supporting evidence does not guarantee quality, safety, availability, value for money or suitability.
Evidence-backed companies may be given greater prominence in search results. This ranking reflects the evidence stored by the platform and is not an endorsement.
5. No approval or endorsement
A company’s appearance in the results does not mean that Accessible Trades:
- approves, recommends or endorses the company;
- confirms that the company is qualified, insured, accredited or suitable;
- confirms that the company has completed accessible adaptation work;
- guarantees the accuracy of any quote, reference, review or external record;
- confirms that an officer, registered address or SIC code reflects the company’s current trading activity; or
- guarantees the quality, safety, timing or cost of any work.
6. Your responsibilities
Before appointing a company, you should carry out checks that are appropriate for the work. These may include:
- confirming the company’s identity, company number and contact details;
- asking about relevant experience, qualifications and recent references;
- checking insurance, warranties, guarantees and use of subcontractors;
- obtaining a clear written quote and agreed scope of work;
- agreeing payment stages and keeping records of payments and communications;
- checking whether planning permission, building control approval or another form of consent is required;
- confirming grant or council requirements before work starts; and
- taking independent professional advice where appropriate.
You are responsible for deciding whether a company is suitable and for any contract you enter into with it.
Nothing in these terms removes any rights you may have under consumer protection law.
7. Information about listed companies
Company information may come from Companies House and other public sources. Public records can contain errors and may not show recent changes immediately.
A registered office is an official correspondence address. It may not be the company’s trading address or the place from which its services are delivered.
SIC codes describe activities registered by a company. They do not prove that a company currently carries out every type of work associated with those codes.
Information about company officers is based on publicly registered appointments. An officer record does not necessarily identify the person who will quote for, supervise or carry out work.
A company or individual who believes that information shown by Accessible Trades is inaccurate, out of date or should not be displayed may contact us. We will assess correction, restriction, objection and deletion requests according to the circumstances and applicable data-protection law. We may ask for enough information to identify the relevant record and verify the request.
Where the underlying Companies House record is inaccurate, the company or officer may also need to ask Companies House to correct the official register. Correcting our local display does not change the source register.
8. External websites and services
Accessible Trades may link to Companies House, search engines, map services, company websites, council pages and other external services.
We do not control external websites and are not responsible for their availability, content, security, privacy practices or accuracy.
Opening an external link is at your discretion and may be subject to the external provider’s own terms and privacy notices.
9. Sponsored content and advertising
Accessible Trades may display sponsored content, advertising or paid company placements alongside organic search results and guidance content.
Paid content will be labelled clearly, for example as Sponsored or Advertisement.
Payment for advertising does not mean that Accessible Trades guarantees, approves or endorses the advertiser or its services.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, sponsored placement will not change the meaning of supporting evidence shown on a company record.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Accessible Trades available and useful, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free or available.
We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of the service, including search features, ranking methods, evidence labels and data sources.
We may also update these terms. The date at the top of this page will show when they were last changed.
11. Our responsibility to you
We take reasonable steps to operate the service carefully, but Accessible Trades is provided as a research and discovery tool.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from:
- reliance on incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or unavailable information;
- the acts, omissions, advice or work of a listed company or another third party;
- agreements, payments or disputes between a user and a company;
- external websites or services;
- a company ceasing to trade or changing the services it offers; or
- interruption, suspension or withdrawal of the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Intellectual property
The Accessible Trades name, branding, original written content, interface design and software are owned by us or used with permission.
You may use the website for personal, non-commercial research.
You must not copy, scrape, republish, sell, reverse engineer or commercially exploit the service except where the law allows it or we have given written permission.
Public-sector and third-party information remains subject to the rights and licence terms that apply to its original source.
13. Privacy and cookies
Our privacy notice explains how we use personal information. Our cookie notice explains which cookies or similar technologies are used by the website.
These documents form part of the information governing your use of Accessible Trades.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory legal rights that apply where you live. Nothing in these terms is intended to remove those rights.
